PM Vishwakarma is a Central Sector Scheme launched on 17 September 2023 by the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises to support artisans and craftspeople working in 18 traditional trades, such as carpentry, blacksmithing, pottery and tailoring. It combines recognition, skill training, toolkit assistance, collateral-free credit and marketing support, and runs from 2023-24 to 2027-28.

Benefits

  • PM Vishwakarma certificate and ID card for formal recognition
  • Basic training (5–7 days) and advanced training (15+ days), with a stipend of ₹500 per day
  • Toolkit incentive of up to ₹15,000 as an e-voucher at the start of basic training
  • Collateral-free loans up to ₹3 lakh in two tranches (₹1 lakh, then ₹2 lakh) at 5% interest with government interest subvention
  • Incentive of ₹1 per digital transaction, up to 100 transactions a month
  • Support for quality certification, branding and e-commerce (GeM) onboarding

Eligibility

  • Applicant must be at least 18 years old at the time of registration
  • Must be engaged in one of the 18 specified trades in the unorganised sector, working with hands and tools
  • Only one member per family is eligible to apply
  • Government employees and their families are not eligible

How to Apply

  1. 1.Register online on the official PM Vishwakarma portal or visit a Common Service Centre (CSC)
  2. 2.Complete skill verification and receive your Digital ID and PM Vishwakarma certificate
  3. 3.Undergo basic skill training, then apply for the first loan tranche; the second tranche follows after using the first responsibly
