Free, deposit-free LPG gas connections for women from poor households, to replace unsafe cooking fuels.
Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), launched on 1 May 2016 by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, provides deposit-free LPG connections in the name of women from below-poverty-line households. Under the current phase, Ujjwala 2.0, beneficiaries also receive a free first refill and stove, along with a subsidy on refills.

Eligibility
- Applicant must be a woman who has attained 18 years of age
- Household must not already have an LPG connection from any oil marketing company
- Applicant should belong to a BPL household or be listed under SECC 2011 deprivation categories, or fall under specified categories such as SC/ST households, tea garden workers or residents of river islands

How to Apply
- 1.Visit the nearest LPG distributor (Indane, Bharatgas or HP Gas) or apply online via the official PMUY portal
- 2.Submit the KYC form along with eligibility proof
- 3.Once verified, the connection, stove and first refill are issued to the applicant
